Alexandra!

Announcing Alexandra Campbell Young. She was born about on time, although her mother went through a lot of labor pains for the two weeks before the birth.

As you can tell from the pictures, she is beautiful. James loves his "baby sister" and is still trying to say "Alexandra." Of course, we've also got some good action shots of James.

Summer is almost over!!

So, because summer is almost over, we're adding some good summer pics.

8-8-08

Tonight we are going to see Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, at Stew's request. He saw it 3 years ago when we were dating (at my suggestion) and has been waiting anxiously for the next installment. It will be a nice break from a long week.

In the meantime, James is sleeping so I had to take some pics. I think he looks like my dad. Dad, can you see the resemblance? Of course, he also looks like a mini-Stew!

After the movie we will watch the recorded Opening Ceremonies for the Olympics - we waited one year longer for this than we did for the movie...

The other pics here are James at the San Diego Zoo (it is about a mile from our apartment); James loving the couch; James at the piano; and James' cousins Athena and Eric at the Miley Cyrus concert on the 4th of July.

Springtime in San Diego

Ahh...springtime in San Diego. Last weekend James visited Sea World and demonstrated his Campbell family musical talent (which skipped a generation) on the triangles; a few weeks ago he had fun playing with his dad's co-clerk and friend Andy who came out to Judge Bybee's 5th anniversary reunion in Las Vegas; (so we had to include the only existing photograph of Judge Bybee with his eyes open - 4th one down); took a shot of James the Delta Airlines frequent flyer - can you tell how much room there is in one of these seats to carry an infant who would rather walk through the aisles, taking everyone's cups off their trays?; and finally...this morning James explored "his" cupboard and finally put to good use the yellow silicone angel food cake pan that is useless for anything other than play...

Gettin' Ready for Valentine's Day

We know...it has been more than half James' life since we posted. We hereby repent. Here are some pics of the last few months. Some milestones: James sat up for the first time while helping his mom assemble Dad's Christmas gift (surround sound), which he did so he could access all the cords better; he pulled himself up to stand the next day; and yesterday after we put together his wagon, he walked behind it on his own! He now announces that he is awake by standing in his crib and letting out a cute little scream that sounds like a seal. This last Saturday we went to our favorite place, Coronado, for a walk. Some of the pics here are of James' first time on the swings and having fun in Dad's arms under a palm tree. Yes, to those of you in Utah, the picture was in fact taken on February 9, 2008, and it was that sunny and warm here!

October in San Diego

We just celebrated our second wedding anniversary. We spent one year of that in Utah, and one year in California. James is more than 3 months old now. He officially laughs, likes to have his legs moved "bicycle" style, likes to be pulled up from a laying-down position to sitting up, and true to his parents' roots, loves to watch TV. He enjoys the boob tube from his BabyBjorn BabySitter. This week he even reached out and spun one of the toys on it around for the first time, which was really cool. We think this means he has discovered his hands. Stew is of the opinion that he has also discovered his feet, but he must have done that in the quiet moments of Daddy-time, because Mom has yet to see it. Another milestone--this week James slept for 8 hours straight at night. We got a lot of sleep, but Mom misses her time with him at night.

In the meantime, not much is changing here in San Diego. The leaves on I-5 outside our window are not changing. The sun is pretty much as warm as it ever is. These are the seasons in southern California, such as they are. We are gearing up for a weekend of baking and closet cleaning. The Young Women had a lot of people sign up for their bake sale (that's what happens when you pass the sign-up sheet around on the Sunday when everyone fasts for 24 hours). We will spend Saturday baking 6 dozen brownies. For guidance on closet cleaning, Mom & Dad watched Tim Gunn's Guide to Style on TV in the wee hours of the morning over the weekend when James decided he would rather be up than down. It was that or the Young & the Restless recaps on SoapCentral, and well, we could agree on Guide to Style. Now we know how to clean out Mom's closet and keep only the "essentials" of a wardrobe list. Since Mom doesn't fit into her skinny clothes anyway, this should not be difficult.
